When Y/Project debuted its outrageous collaboration with Ugg boots for Fall 2018, the main question seemed to be, “Who would ever wear them?”. If anyone was going to sport Y/Project’s bizarre take on the Ugg boot first, it would be Rihanna. On Saturday night at Coachella, the entertainer wore Y/Project’s sheer camel dress with the thigh-swaddling heeled UGG boots. Fun fact: Rihanna stood front row in the get-up to watch Beyoncé perform.
It’s certainly not an easy look to wear, but Rihanna has successfully pulled off Y/Project’s exaggerated silhouettes in the past. Last September, she stepped out in the label’s rippling adjustable denim wire boots and this March, she donned a bold-shouldered, oversize denim jacket. As for the multi-roll Ugg cuissardes? Y/ Project’s creative director Glenn Martens described the design concept as “putting your foot in a warm pot of butter, and I thought why not elevate that and immerse your full legs!” In other words, it’s not only the boldest look at Coachella so far, but the comfiest, too.
