This was the summer of the suit. It’s a style that has been sweeping the celebrity set, championed by everyone from Rita Ora to Kendall Jenner and Zendaya. The most successful interpretations took the genre in new and unexpected directions, whether in the form of color (neon green!), length (capri pants!), or details (tuxedo tails!). Offering further proof that the trend has staying power is Chloë Sevigny. When the actress arrived at the New York premiere of Good Time on Tuesday night, she did her part to take the stiffness out of traditional suiting.
Sevigny buttoned into a tuxedo jacket by cult Paris-based label Y/Project. With its slashed, buttoned, and lace-trimmed bell sleeves, the menswear-inspired piece was hardly business as usual. The micro hem recalled the pant-less look of last winter, but the jacket’s contoured double-breasted silhouette was more figure-flattering than its T-shaped predecessors. Sevigny went non-traditional with her accessories, too, finishing off with a drawstring bucket bag and strappy snakeskin sandals that countered the primness of her white button-down shirt with sheer sex appeal.
